DESCRIPTIF
Albé's historic heart beats in the center of the village, with its museum of heritage, traditions and popular arts. A must-see site steeped in history, the museum retraces the lives of the inhabitants of the Vallée de Villé from the Ancien Régime to the end of the 19th century. Housed in a fully restored 18th-century farmhouse, a visit to the museum is a journey back in time, revealing all the facets of the lives of these men and women who have bequeathed us real treasures: common-sense know-how, age-old traditions, remarkable buildings that have stood the test of time, and a way of life in close contact with nature. The museum comprises several buildings: a Vosges-inspired farmhouse dating from 1709, a day laborer's house built in 1616, a former guardhouse, a distillery and a surprising sandstone pavilion from 1873 with a Mansard-style slate roof. Inside, the Stube (the main room of the house), the kitchen, the bedroom, the stable, the hayloft and the schoolroom are all reconstructed, furnished and decorated to offer you an unforgettable immersive experience of a bygone era and daily life.The museum is open from April to October.
